Why
users need OhmLegs?
"Safety" and "efficiency" are the
primary considerations in developing ohmlegs.
Computer professionals agree that minimum resistance in removing a connector
is essential for good maintenance of a computer. Generally speaking,
to remove an old-fashioned connector with minimal damage, one should
hold the computer with one hand while gently tugging at the connector
with the other ( According to the Molex®
Manual, one pin of the connector has a holding force of 2.5 kg of friction.
Therefore, in order to remove a 4 pin connector, a 10kg
resistant force needs to be overcome ) However, office space and time
rarely allow for such a maneuver. Consequently, staff resort to jerking
and pulling at the connector, which over a period of time leads to damage
of the components ¡V not to mention the blown fuse in the operator!
